LED face masks went from a niche skincare gadget to one of the most talked-about beauty buys of 2026, and one name keeps coming up in every expert roundup: the Shark CryoGlow. It was named best overall by multiple reviewers this year, and it is the mask that most first-time buyers end up choosing. But is it actually worth the money? Here is what the testing shows.

The CryoGlow stands out for one feature no other mask has: clip-on cooling patches for the under-eye area. Alongside red, blue and near-infrared light, the mask offers an Under-Eye Revive mode that runs for 5 to 15 minutes with three chill levels. It is the closest thing to a spa treatment you can get at home.

What the Experts Found

Good Housekeeping UK ran the biggest test of LED masks, with 190 panellists testing 24 masks for at least four weeks, and the CryoGlow topped the table with a score of 92 out of 100. CNET, Oprah Daily and Cosmopolitan also named it best overall, and Allure gave it a 2026 Best of Beauty award for LED skin devices.

The light specification backs up those scores. The mask uses 160 tri-wick LEDs, 480 light sources in all, covering 415 nm blue light for breakouts plus 630 nm red and 830 nm near-infrared for fine lines. Wirecutter cites 73 mW per square centimetre of red output, and no other mask in the comparison publishes a higher figure.

The Three Programmes

The CryoGlow offers three LED programmes. Better Ageing runs for six minutes and targets fine lines, Blemish Repair runs for eight minutes and targets breakouts, and Skin Sustain runs for four minutes as a maintenance mode. Most makers suggest three to five sessions a week, with visible changes taking four to twelve weeks.

One long-term reviewer used the mask 407 times over almost two years, with 174 sessions on Better Ageing and 233 on Blemish Repair. That kind of real-world use is more convincing than any marketing claim: the best LED mask is the one that actually gets used, and the CryoGlow's comfort and fit are why it became part of a daily routine.

Is It Worth the Price?

The CryoGlow lists at around $349.99 in the US and is often discounted to around $299.99. That is a lot of money for a skincare gadget, and it is worth asking whether the results justify it. The honest answer is that LED masks deliver modest improvements: red and near-infrared light can soften fine lines and improve texture a little, but they do not work like a laser or a prescription retinoid, and results fade if you stop.

For acne, the evidence is weaker. Blue light has not been shown to significantly reduce inflammatory pimples compared with no treatment in large reviews, so a mask should not replace benzoyl peroxide, adapalene or a dermatologist's plan for moderate to severe acne.

The Downsides

The mask is not perfect. The cooling fan whirs whenever the chill pads run, which reviewers at Wirecutter, Good Housekeeping and Who What Wear all mention. The hard shell weighs 1.5 lb and does not fold, so it is not a travel mask. And the cooling pads block LED light from reaching the skin under the eyes while they are on.

There is also a newer model, the CryoGlow Plus, which costs around $379.99 and adds extra LEDs around the crow's feet and lip lines. If those are the specific areas you want to treat, the Plus may be worth it, but for most buyers the original is the better value, especially when it is discounted.

The Verdict

The Shark CryoGlow is the best LED face mask of 2026 for most people. It is FDA-cleared for wrinkles and acne, its programmes are short and easy to stick to, and the under-eye cooling is genuinely unique. Buy it if you will use it three to five times a week for at least two months, and if you want a device that fits into real life rather than gathering dust in a drawer. If you will not commit to the routine, no price is a good price.
