The sunset lamp is back. What started as a pandemic-era room-decor staple has resurfaced on TikTok this October in second-generation form, and room-tour creators are once again filming before-and-after lighting transformations. This time the models come with adjustable colour temperature and USB-C charging — small upgrades that fix the two biggest complaints about the originals.

The TikTok angle is content creation itself. Creators use the lamps as affordable background lighting for videos, casting a golden-hour glow behind them regardless of the actual time of day. In a feed full of room makeovers, the sunset projection has become shorthand for "aesthetic upgrade," and the adjustable temperature means one lamp can shift from warm amber for cozy vlogs to cooler tones for tech content.

Price is the other half of the story. These lamps frequently appear on marketplaces like AliExpress for around 8 to 15 dollars, compared with 25 to 40 dollars for branded TikTok Shop versions — often from the same factories. They have joined a whole shelf of LED decor that keeps going viral, from glowing cloud mirrors to color-shifting strips, and buyers should always check 90-day price history since fake "discount" claims are common in this category.

Styling them is half the fun: creators are layering sunset projections with existing smart lights to build gradient walls, pairing them with posters and plants for depth, and filming the switch-on moment as a mini-reveal. Paired with modular hexagon light panels, the combination covers both ambient wash and geometric accent in a single frame.

## What to check before buying. Look for adjustable colour temperature rather than a single fixed hue, confirm USB-C charging instead of the older micro-USB, and scan review photos for actual brightness — many cheap units wash out under normal room light. Like any good smart home gadget, the best units are the ones that simplify your setup instead of complicating it.

The sunset lamp's second act says a lot about how TikTok trends cycle: a proven product, a couple of meaningful upgrades, and a fresh wave of creators discovering it for the first time. Expect the golden-hour glow to stick around well past spooky season.
